We have spent the last few days discussing how maps can shows the surface of the Earth. The maps we have made only show a flat surface, how do we show different elevations? We are going to introduce the concept of topographic maps.
After yesterdays lesson on scale, we are going to again attempt to create a map of my classroom.
We are going to begin to look at how maps help us explore and learn about the the Earth. We are going to focus on Topographic and Geologic maps but in Social Studies classes you will be using other types of maps. 
We are going to go back to the Computer Lab. Please remember your username and your password. Yesterday we looked at over 100 places around the world and today we are going to focus on National Parks.
Link Monday and Tuesday we will be working with Google Earth in the Computer Lab. Hopefully you have a good idea of where you would like to study for the next year. If you are still stuck here is a great website for ideas. We will be using it in class today.
